The Maldives Meteorological Service(Met Office) has issued an Orange Weather Warning on January 9, for areas stretching from Gaafu Alifu Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, with immediate precautions advised due to severe weather conditions.

The warning, in effect from 12:50 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., stresses the likelihood of torrential rain, thunderstorms, and possible flooding in the region.

Residents and travelers are urged to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during this time.

The affected zone encompasses areas in the southern atolls, including Faafu, Laamu, and the nearby islands, where heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding and disruptions.
