FENAKA Corporation has announced the deployment of emergency response teams across the islands it operates, in anticipation of severe weather conditions forecasted by the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET).

The announcement comes as a cyclonic circulation in the southwest Bay of Bengal moves toward the Maldives, raising concerns about widespread flooding and property damage.

In a statement issued on Monday, FENAKA stated that 151 islands under its operations have been equipped with emergency response teams, consisting of a total of 2,311 members. These teams are prepared to address emergencies and ensure the safety of residents in affected areas.

FENAKA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting communities during emergencies, emphasising that safeguarding lives and providing assistance remains its top priority.

According to the MET Office, heavy rainfall is expected to begin on Monday night and persist for six days, particularly impacting the northern and central atolls.
