During his official visit to Estonia, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended a luncheon hosted by Urmas Klaas, the Mayor of Tartu, where the Mayor and other officials expressed keen interest in the Maldives Floating City project.

President Dr Muizzu elaborated on the project’s sustainable design, its potential benefits to the Maldives, and its role as a model for climate-resilient urban development.

The event, attended by key officials from Estonia's government and academia, provided an opportunity for discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring future collaboration between the two nations.

The luncheon also allowed for exchanges on Estonia’s rich culture, history, iconic landmarks, and the challenges posed by an aging population.

Additionally, President Dr Muizzu highlighted areas where the Maldives seeks Estonia’s support, particularly in e-governance, digital innovation, public services, education, and renewable energy to support the country’s national development goals.
