During his official visit to Estonia, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu visited the Estonian Biobank on Wednesday, where he was warmly welcomed by Professor Lili Milani, Head of the Estonian Biobank, along with key academic figures from the institution.
Following the warm welcome, the President received a briefing on the biobank’s operations and research activities, gaining insight into its significant role in advancing scientific research.
Established in 2001, the Estonian Biobank, part of the University of Tartu, is a world-class research infrastructure. With a database of over 200,000 participants, representing approximately 20 per cent of Estonia’s adult population, it stands as one of Europe’s most comprehensive national biobanks.
As part of his visit, President Dr Muizzu also signed the visitors’ book at the biobank. His visit to this landmark institution is one of several during his time in Estonia, which has also included stops at the University of Tartu and the Estonian National Museum (ERM).
