The Ministry of Islamic Affairs will hold auditions for the ‘Noorul Adhan 1446’ competition on 11 February at the Islamic Centre's Conference Hall in Male'.

Thirty participants, selected from 40 applicants aged 15 to 20, will compete in the auditions scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Winners of the competition will receive prizes and the opportunity to perform the Friday prayer call at major mosques in Male' during Ramadan 1446.

The competition aims to nurture a new generation of skilled youth who can deliver the call to prayer with proper technique and beautiful pronunciation. Additional objectives include fostering widespread interest in the practice, strengthening the nation's Islamic identity, and establishing a pool of qualified young callers.

The Ministry also seeks to revitalise this traditional art form whilst recognising practitioners in the field, contributing to the broader goal of enhancing the Islamic character of both Male' City and the Maldives.
