According to the announcement, Raa Inguraidhoo Council applied for the nearby island of Neyo, while Dhaalu Atoll Council requested Minimaasgali and Fenfushi islands. Laamu Maavah Council sought to obtain Laamu Bodumaabulhali.

Minister Shareef indicated that the Ministry of Finance and Planning would work jointly with the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works to facilitate the transfer of these islands to the respective councils.
