The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has initiated an inquiry into a video circulating on social media that shows a group engaging in inappropriate conduct inside a mosque.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed announced via X that the Ministry would address the matter under Religious Unity Act (Act No. 6/94). He mentioned that they have begun reviewing the circumstances of the incident and would take appropriate steps regarding the use of mosque spaces.

Under the Religious Unity Act, actions that disrespect or undermine Islamic sanctity can result in legal consequences. The Act, which was established to preserve religious harmony in the Maldives, grants the Islamic Ministry authority to take action in such matters.
