The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development has announced higher education scholarship opportunities in Brunei.

The scholarships, offered under the "Brunei Government Scholarship Programme," provide Maldivian students the chance to pursue full-time diploma, degree, and master's programmes at five universities in Brunei.

The initiative highlights the strong partnership between the Governments of Brunei and Maldives and is designed to expand educational opportunities for Maldivian students.

The eligibility criteria for these scholarships have been published in the Government gazette. Each student is eligible to enrol in one programme on a full-time basis. The selection of successful candidates will be determined by the scholarship awardees, according to the Ministry.

As part of the programme, tuition fees, accommodation, and medical insurance will be fully covered by the organisers. The scholarships span a wide range of disciplines, providing students access to diverse academic opportunities.

The Ministry of Higher Education has emphasised that applicants must ensure their chosen programmes are offered from universities  recognised by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA), before initiating the application process.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications by Saturday, 15 February 2025, by 4:00 PM, Brunei time, as per the Ministry’s announcement.
