A senior delegation from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) concluded a four-day visit to India, focused on advancing existing agreements with India’s police training institutions to enhance the MPS’s investigative and operational capabilities.
Led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan, the delegation included Superintendent Sultan Ahmed Bishar, Chief Inspector Ibrahim Faiz, and Inspector Mohammed Isham. The visit spanned from 12 to 17 January 2025.
During their visit, the MPS delegation held meetings with key institutions such as the Hyderabad National Police Academy (NPA), the Gujarat National Forensic Science University (NFSU), and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) to discuss training and development opportunities.
The discussions covered high-level training in specialised fields like cyber forensics, investigations, and intelligence, as well as plans for the establishment of an international-class forensic laboratory in the Maldives. As part of the agreements, the NFSU proposed opening a campus in Maldives and pledged support for developing a modern digital forensic laboratory in the Maldives.
Additionally, RRU has offered scholarships for five MPS officers and committed to providing training on financial crimes and maritime security.
The institutions will also assist with curriculum accreditation, teacher exchanges, and technical support for the Maldives’ National College of Policing and Law Enforcement.
