The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, recently held discussions with the Australian High Commissioner, David Jessup, to explore ways to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

The meeting centered on enhancing bilateral ties and identifying opportunities for expanded collaboration across various sectors. Both officials reaffirmed the enduring friendship and mutual respect between the Maldives and Australia, expressing a shared commitment to deepening cooperation.

High Commissioner Jessup, who officially assumed his role as Australia’s representative to the Maldives, had previously presented his Letter of Credence to then President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during a formal ceremony at the President’s Office on July 24, 2023.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared news of the meeting on its official X account, expressing optimism about the future of Maldives-Australia relations.
