Japan and Maldives strengthen ties in renewable energy discussions

The Maldives has engaged in discussions with Japan to explore collaboration in renewable energy and sustainable development, focusing on low-emission projects and Japanese investment. Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim expressed the Maldives' commitment to strengthening ties with Japan, which showed support for the nation's environmental efforts. The talks mark a step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation and renewable energy goals, with the Maldives aiming for 33% of its electricity to come from renewable sources by 2028.
