President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to prioritise the construction of housing units on Rasmaadhoo in North Maalhosmadulu Atoll during a meeting with the island's residents on Wednesday.
Housing projects top the Administration's agenda this year, the President said, identifying housing shortages and overcrowding as key drivers of social issues in the community.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, President Dr Muizzu promised to revive the suspended water network project, which had been halted by the contractor across multiple islands. He assured residents of its completion, along with pending school development work. The President also committed to expanding the Island's Health Centre to include laboratory services and enhancing local sports and wellness facilities.
The President also revealed that plans are underway to establish a police presence on the island. He added that Government officials are working with Ooredoo Maldives to relocate the Rasmaadhoo Antennae.
The visit also saw the signing of an agreement between the Bank of Maldives and Rasmaadhoo Island Council to install an ATM on the island.
