The Ministry of Health has announced that 2,180 individuals have utilised the Medical Check-up programme, which provides free health screenings twice yearly.

In a post on social media platform X, the Ministry confirmed these figures for the scheme, which entitles every Maldivian citizen to two complimentary medical check-ups per year.

The Government introduced the Medical Check-up programme through Aasandha last year to aid early detection of chronic diseases in the Maldives. The programme has been available to all citizens free of charge since July last year.

The initiative was established under the President's pledge to reduce state healthcare expenditure whilst building a healthier society. Health authorities encourage more citizens to take advantage of these free screenings, noting that early detection significantly improves recovery chances.
