The Maldives Meteorological Service(Met Office) has issued a Yellow Alert for areas spanning from Shaviyani Atoll to Vaavu Atoll.

The advisory is in effect from 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on January 23, 2025.

Residents and mariners in the affected areas are warned of torrential rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 40 miles per hour.

Rough sea conditions are also expected, posing a potential risk to small vessels.

The Maldives Meteorological Service advises all individuals in the alert zone to exercise caution and to avoid unnecessary travel by sea during this period.

Travellers are especially urged to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and heed safety measures.
