The Government has announced plans to provide water and sewerage facilities to the tourism-designated area in R. Kinolhas, as part of its broader efforts to support local tourism.
The initiative was revealed during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Kinolhas as a part of his ongoing North Maalhosmadulu Atoll tour.
The Government’s plan to enhance infrastructure in the designated tourism zone aims to support local businesses and increase the island’s attraction to visitors. By extending water and sewerage facilities, key infrastructure challenges will be addressed, making the area more conducive to tourism activities.
Kinolhas, known for its unique approach to tourism, already boasts initiatives to attract tourists, including the Ibn Battuta Manzil, a site on the harbour commemorating the 14th-century explorer Ibn Battuta, who visited Kinolhas twice. The island features a park and a painting depicting his global travel routes, making it a focal point for cultural tourism.
