The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Maldives has announced that all vessels conducting diving and snorkelling activities in the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA) must register in line with the management plan to protect the region’s marine ecosystem. Vessel registration will be processed through the OneGov platform, with a three-month deadline for compliance from the date of the management plan’s publication. SAMPA, known for its rich biodiversity including whale sharks, coral reefs, and manta rays, attracts global visitors, making sustainable marine activity management crucial.
