A man was injured last night after being struck on the head with a hammer in an attack near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), according to police reports.

Authorities stated that two men on a motorcycle carried out the assault. It is believed that the victim was also sitting on a motorcycle at the time of the incident.

A police officer in the vicinity responded immediately, but the suspects managed to escape. Initial reports indicate that they attempted to flee on their motorcycle, but after experiencing mechanical issues, they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The victim, identified as a Maldivian man, was taken to IGMH for medical treatment. Police have not disclosed further details regarding his condition.

Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
