The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced significant progress in the development of the Faafu Magoodhoo Airport.

According to MTCC, 56 per cent of the asphalt base course (ABC) on the runway has been completed, along with 53 per cent of the terminal building construction. Additionally, 24 per cent of the fire station building has been completed.

Awarded to MTCC in 2022, the Magoodhoo Airport Development Project has a contract value of MVR 231 million. 

MTCC is also overseeing the land reclamation work required for the airport’s development. Initially planned with a 1,200-metre runway, the project has since been revised to include an 1,800-metre runway.
