The Maldives has recorded a 6.5 per cent increase in tourist arrivals in 2025, with 411,290 visitors entering the country so far, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism. The growth aligns with the Government's target of attracting 2.3 million tourists this year, following a record-breaking two million arrivals in 2024.

As of February 25, the Maldives had welcomed 196,427 tourists, with an average of 7,857 daily arrivals. The highest single-day arrival was recorded on February 1, with 9,495 visitors. Accommodation data indicates that resorts remain the preferred choice, hosting 283,847 tourists, followed by guesthouses with 106,053 visitors. Hotels recorded 11,261 arrivals, while safari vessels accommodated 9,855 tourists.

China remains the leading source market with 57,157 arrivals, followed by Russia (40,511), the United Kingdom (40,203), and Italy (37,502). While the top three source markets remain unchanged from 2024, Italy has now overtaken Germany as the fourth-largest contributor.

To sustain growth and achieve the annual target, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the Ministry of Tourism have intensified promotional efforts. Special campaigns are being launched to attract visitors during the off-peak season, aiming to further strengthen the country’s position as a leading global travel destination.
