Liverpool FC has announced a multi-year global partnership with Visit Maldives, officially naming the island nation as the club’s official tourist destination partner.

The collaboration, which includes both the men’s and women’s teams, brings together two globally recognised brands to highlight the synergy between football and travel.

As the world’s leading travel destination for five consecutive years, the Maldives is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse attractions.

Through this partnership, the country will gain significant exposure via Liverpool FC’s vast global reach, which includes over 200 million social media followers, 12 billion video views, and a cumulative audience of 471 million in the Premier League last season.

This collaboration offers the Maldives an unrivalled platform to engage with football fans worldwide and further establish itself as a must-visit destination.

Beyond boosting tourism, the partnership also highlights a shared commitment to sustainability. As a low-lying island nation, the Maldives faces increasing threats from climate change and rising sea levels, making conservation a priority.

Visit Maldives is dedicated to preserving its unique environment, particularly its delicate marine ecosystems, and Liverpool FC will support these efforts through its award-winning sustainability initiative, The Red Way.

Ben Latty, chief commercial officer at Liverpool FC, emphasised this shared vision, reaffirming both organisations’ commitment to sustainability and long-term positive change.

To mark the launch of the partnership, Liverpool FC fans will have the chance to win a five-night trip to the Maldives, including flights and accommodation, through a special MyLFC competition. Throughout the partnership, supporters will also gain access to exclusive content, promotions, and competitions featuring once-in-a-lifetime prizes.

Ibrahim Shiuree, chief executive officer and managing director of Visit Maldives, described the partnership as a source of immense pride, recognising Liverpool FC’s global influence and the opportunity to introduce the Maldives to millions of passionate fans worldwide. He expressed particular excitement about the MyLFC competition, which will offer one lucky fan the chance to experience the Maldives.

Following a record-breaking year in 2024, the Maldives' tourism industry has set an ambitious target of USD 5 billion in tourism revenue for 2025. The partnership with Liverpool FC is expected to play a significant role in achieving this goal by leveraging the club’s extensive global reach.
