The Maldives Police Service has arrested six individuals and seized nearly two kilograms of drugs. 

They were arrested during an operation conducted upon a tip-off received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit.

The six individuals are Hassan Ali, 26, Gaaf Alif Dhaandhoo, Mohameed Aleesh, 28, Lhaviyani Kurendhoo, Waleedh Mohamed, 26, Haa Dhaal Nolhivaranfaru, Jailam Mohamed Zaki, 28, Seenu Feydhoo, Shayaan Ismail Waheed, 18, Faafu Dharanboodhoo, and Ibrahim Maishan Mahir, 21, Alif Alif Thoddoo.

During this operation, the Police searched seven locations in Malé and Hulhumale, seizing cash, electronic devices, and products containing cannabis. 

Police seized 1,943.76 grams of drugs, nicotine-style vape cartridges, ‘moonshine’ cannabis beverages, and flavored oils. Additionally, they confiscated over MVR 90,000, USD 3,605, six mobile phones, and two laptops.

The court has ordered remand for six individuals: Jailam Mohamed Zaki for five days; Ibrahim Maishan Mahir and Shayaan Ismail Waheed for 10 days; and Hassan Ali, Mohameed Aleesh, and Waleedh Mohamed to remain in custody for 15 days. 

Police are further investigating the case.
