Foreign Minister concludes official visit to Kuwait

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, has concluded an official visit to the State of Kuwait, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two nations.

The visit was undertaken at the invitation of Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.

During the visit, Minister Dr Khaleel held high-level discussions with key Kuwaiti government officials, including an audience with the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Saud Al-Sabah. He also met his counterpart, Minister Al-Yahya, as well as ministers responsible for finance, economic affairs, electricity, renewable energy, endowments, and Islamic affairs. Additional meetings were held with senior representatives from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The talks focused on strengthening existing diplomatic ties and fostering cooperation in economic development, renewable energy, and investment. Minister Dr Khaleel briefed his counterparts on the Maldives’ economic priorities and the Government’s efforts to diversify the economy to ensure sustainable growth. Both sides expressed a strong interest in expanding collaborative initiatives that align with the Maldives’ development objectives.

The visit reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and Kuwait, rooted in shared Islamic heritage and over four decades of partnership and mutual respect.
