The Maldives Police Service has refuted claims circulating on social media that a driver fled the scene after crashing a car into a tree on Lonuziyaarai Magu.

The incident occurred at around 8:38 a.m. on Friday. A video showing the aftermath of the crash has since been shared online, prompting speculation that the driver had left the scene to avoid accountability.

Police clarified that the claim is false. According to their statement, the driver did not flee but instead parked the vehicle nearby and returned to the location of the accident.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
