The Parliament's Committee on Independent Institutions has approved the dismissal of five senior officials, including vice-presidents from both the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Election Commission, alongside three other members.

The officials removed from their positions include ACC Vice-President Abdul Salam and member Thoha Mohamed, as well as Election Commission Vice-President Ali Nashath and members Dr Mohamed Zahir, and Mohamed Asif.

The committee also reviewed the case of Mohamed Nasih, President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), but decided not to proceed with his removal.

According to the committee, the dismissals of Abdul Salam and Thoha Mohamed were recommended due to alleged violations against clause (a) and (b) of Section 17 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act. The complaints were investigated by the Committee on Independent Institutions, leading to the final decision.
