The Ministry of Social and Family Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Moms Aid to support vulnerable groups across the Maldives. The partnership aims to enhance intervention strategies, address domestic violence, and promote vocational training programmes to uplift struggling families.

At the core of this collaboration is the Ministry’s initiative, Haalu Kihineiy?, which identifies individuals and families in critical conditions through the Ibama programme. Once identified, these individuals will benefit from the tailored services provided by Moms Aid. These services are designed to improve quality of life and foster social empowerment.

The MoU also reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to combating domestic violence, with Moms Aid offering specialised support to victims. Both parties will work together to fulfil the Ministry’s mandate of preventing violence and offering relief to those affected.

A key feature of this agreement is the emphasis on financial independence. Moms Aid will provide vocational training opportunities to vulnerable individuals, aiming to increase their financial viability and encourage self-employment. This initiative is expected to improve economic conditions for at-risk families while promoting long-term self-sufficiency.

The agreement also highlights a shared commitment to raising public awareness about gender-based violence and domestic abuse. Both organisations intend to advocate for societal change by promoting relevant programmes to the general public.

This partnership aligns with the current Administration's vision of fostering a compassionate and inclusive society. The Ministry is dedicated addressing the needs of those requiring support, ensuring that services are accessible and impactful across the community.
