The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has successfully intercepted and seized an illegal fishing vessel operating in Maldivian waters.

On a post shared on X, MNDF released a photo of the seized illegal fishing vessel but did not disclose any further information.

The MNDF has yet to reveal the identity of the boat, the number of individuals aboard, or the specific location from which the vessel was seized.

Similar vessels have been seized in the past for operating illegally in Maldivian waters. On the 16th of this month, MNDF successfully intercepted a fishing boat attempting to enter the Maldives illegally, with the assistance of a drone.
