Maldives has secured the 'World's Leading Destination Award' for the fifth consecutive year at the 31st annual World Travel Awards 2024, held in Madeira, Portugal.
Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal received the award alongside Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)'s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree.
In his post on X, the Minister expressed gratitude to all industry stakeholders, noting his pride in accepting this prestigious recognition on behalf of the nation's tourism industry.
The Ministry of Tourism highlighted on X that this remarkable achievement exemplifies the unwavering dedication and collaborative spirit of the entire tourism industry.
Maldives emerged victorious against 18 other countries: Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Dubai, Greece, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, USA and Vietnam.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, represents the pinnacle of industry recognition, honouring exceptional achievements throughout the tourism, hospitality and travel sectors.
