The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that reconstruction work on the harbour in Shaviyani Narudhoo is 72 per cent complete. The project, which began physical mobilisation in March 2023, includes extensive dredging, construction of a breakwater and quay wall, and installation of harbour lights and pavement. The upgraded harbour is expected to address long-standing logistical challenges and improve economic opportunities for the island’s predominantly agriculture-based community.
