The Government of the Maldives has formally established an embassy in the State of Qatar, according to an announcement issued by the President’s Office on Sunday.

The decision, made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu under constitutional authority, aims to strengthen Maldives–Qatar ties across key sectors including politics, economy, education, and defence.

The newly established Embassy of the Maldives in Qatar will fall under the administrative purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A directive outlining the responsibilities and official designation of the embassy has also been issued.

The embassy in Qatar will be the third Maldivian diplomatic mission in the Middle East, joining the existing embassies in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
