A white alert has been issued for areas ranging from Alifu Dhaalu Atoll to Addu City.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has indicated the likelihood of heavy thunderstorms in these areas, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 40 miles per hour. Sea conditions are expected to be moderately rough, and caution is advised for all marine activities.

The alert will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. today.

In addition to the advisory, the Met Office has forecast rain across the entire country over the upcoming weekend. Widespread heavy rain and thundershowers are expected to affect all regions.
