The Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has officially launched an extensively upgraded version of its mobile application, introducing a suite of advanced digital services designed to elevate customer experience and improve operational efficiency.
This development forms a central element of MWSC’s digital transformation strategy and is fully aligned with the national "Maldives 2.0" initiative, a Government-led programme aimed at modernising public service delivery through technological innovation.
Bringing together all functionalities previously available through the MWSC mobile app and e-portal, the revamped platform offers a seamless, user-centric interface. By enhancing navigability and responsiveness, the application places user convenience at the core of its design, reflecting MWSC’s strategic focus on simplifying utility management for residents across the country.
The official unveiling of the new platform was marked by a ceremony attended by MWSC Chairperson Shamhooza Ahmed, Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed, and other senior members of the Board of Directors and Management Team. Their participation underscored the significance of this initiative within the company’s long-term vision for service excellence and innovation.
Among the most prominent features of the upgraded application is its integration with the national digital ID platform, e-Faas. This functionality enables users to log in securely and efficiently, while automatically prompting the linkage of all utility meters registered under the user’s name, thereby streamlining account setup and management.
Building on this digital foundation, the app introduces a comprehensive service application and payment system. Customers can apply for water and sewerage services, monitor the status of their applications in real time, and complete secure payments, all within a single platform. These additions represent a step forward in terms of functionality and user autonomy.
Enhanced smart meter telemetry further adds to the app’s value, offering daily access to meter readings and detailed insights into water consumption patterns. In conjunction with predictive billing capabilities, users are better positioned to manage usage and anticipate future bills. The new bill request feature, which allows users to submit a photo-verified reading at any point in the billing cycle, provides an added layer of flexibility and control.
To further facilitate bill payments, the Multi-Pay option enables users to settle multiple bills across one or several accounts in a single transaction. Additionally, the app offers access to a full year’s worth of account statements, providing users with a comprehensive overview of their billing history.
Reflecting on the launch, the Managing Director highlighted that the enhanced app signifies the beginning of MWSC’s broader digital transformation journey. He emphasised its alignment with the Government’s objective of improving the speed, accessibility, and sustainability of public services through digital tools.
The application is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Customers requiring further assistance or details are encouraged to contact the MWSC Customer Service Hotline at 105 or visit the official website at www.mwsc.com.mv.
