“Maaran’ga Market” has been launched in Kaafu Maafushi to support and expand opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The initiative is led by Business Center Corporation (BCC), in collaboration with the Maafushi Council and Maafushi Local Authority Company Limited (MLAC).

A total of 12 kiosks have been allocated to vendors, including four for businesses based in Maafushi and eight for businesses from Malé. Products on offer include food items, pastries and handmade goods.

As one of the country’s key tourism hubs, Maafushi provides a high-traffic environment for such initiatives. BCC noted that markets of this kind are expected to generate additional economic opportunities for local businesses by improving their reach and promoting their products to a broader customer base.

BCC continues to implement initiatives focused on strengthening SMEs by creating opportunities for business expansion and wider market access. The Government has also prioritised measures to support the development of SMEs this year and next.

The market is scheduled to run until Saturday, operating daily from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

The Maafushi Council stated that there are plans to hold the market annually.
