Two individuals have been arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into Kulhudhuffushi City via air transport, according to the Maldives Police Service.

The arrests were made on July 18 following a tip-off received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence Department. In a joint operation with Kulhudhuffushi City Police, officers apprehended the suspects near Kulhudhuffushi Airport.

During the arrest, police recovered three rubber packets and a plastic packet suspected to contain illegal drugs. The total estimated weight of the seized substances is 52.2 grams.

Following their arrest, the suspects were brought before a local court. the 29-year-old suspect was remanded in police custody for 10 days, while the 53-year-old suspect was remanded for 15 days. Kulhudhuffushi City Police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
