Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the five non-governmental organisations selected for its 'Bank Fund 2025', an annual initiative designed to support community-driven projects and promote sustainable development across the country.

The fund, launched in 2022, awards MVR 200,000 each to five NGOs whose proposals demonstrate tangible impact in areas such as education, healthcare, and community development. This year’s recipients will implement a range of projects aimed at improving access to essential services and empowering local communities.

The Diabetes Society of Maldives will establish a clinic in Hulhumalé to expand accessible, community-based healthcare, focusing on the prevention, early diagnosis, and management of diabetes. The United Islamic Society will set up a modern multimedia studio at Dhaalu Atoll Education Centre to enhance digital media competencies among students and strengthen the school’s Media Club.

The Foundation for Eydhafushi Youth Linkage (FEYLI) is set to establish two integrated laboratories at Baa Atoll Education Centre to provide vocational and creative skills training. The Maldivian Nurses Association will introduce a sustainable, community-based mental health support service in Hulhumalé Phase 2, focusing on outreach and rehabilitation for individuals with severe mental health conditions. Meanwhile, Tiny Hearts of Maldives will develop a national digital resource hub dedicated to heart health and general physical wellbeing.

In a statement, the Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting meaningful initiatives that contribute to the nation’s development. The selection reflects BML’s continued emphasis on empowering local organisations and addressing pressing social challenges through grassroots engagement.
