The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced a tender for the construction of two key Waqf buildings in Malé and Hulhumalé, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to expanding Islamic educational infrastructure.

Registered businesses compliant with the Registration of Business Act are invited to participate. Registration for bidders closes on July 31, with final cost estimates due by 11:00 a.m. on August 21, 2025. The projects include the Darul Arqam building in Henveiru, Malé City, and the Darul Salam building in Hulhumalé Phase 1. 

Revenue generated from the Waqf properties will be reinvested into Islamic programmes and community initiatives, reducing dependency on the state budget. The Government regards Waqf investments as a central component of its religious policy, aimed at achieving medium and long-term development objectives.
