President pledges thorough investigation into Zakiyya's death; ensures justice will be served

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to ensure a thorough investigation into the death of Zakiyya Moosa, who was found dead with injuries at her residence in Holhudhoo on 10 September 2024.

During his visit to Noonu Holhudhoo, President Dr Muizzu met with a group of residents staging a demonstration to demand justice for Zakiyya. The President, who spoke with the group separately outside the Council building, assured them of a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the case.

The demonstrators voiced their concerns to the President, who promised to personally oversee the inquiry to ensure accountability and that justice is delivered to Zakiyya’s family and community. The residents expressed their appreciation to President Dr Muizzu for engaging with them and acknowledging their grievances.

Zakiyya Moosa, aged 50, was found dead with injuries at her home in Holhudhoo. Her death has sparked significant concern among the local community, with many calling for clarity surrounding the circumstances and demanding a transparent and exhaustive investigation.
