Noonu Holhudhoo Island Council has laid out a comprehensive set of development priorities aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and public services, during a meeting with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and senior Government officials.

Key proposals shared during the meeting included expediting the delayed water network project, addressing housing shortages, and consolidating Meyna School into a single campus to enhance academic efficiency. Representatives from the Island Council, Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and local institutions also raised the need to expand the health centre, upgrade waste management facilities, and allocate more space for the harbour under construction.

The construction of a mosque or Islamic Centre was also highlighted as a community aspiration, reflecting the island’s growing demand for religious and communal infrastructure.

President Dr Muizzu responded by assuring participants that each proposal would be reviewed in detail. He also shared updates on current projects, with additional information provided by cabinet ministers and officials from State-owned enterprises in attendance.

The discussion in Holhudhoo is part of the President’s ongoing tour of Noonu Atoll, where he is directly meeting with communities to shape island-level development agendas.
