A man has been arrested with more than four kilograms of drugs during a raid conducted in Malé City, the Maldives Police Service has confirmed.

The arrest took place on 23 July during a joint operation led by the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement departments. Police stated that the raid formed part of their efforts to disrupt the sale and distribution of illegal substances.

As part of the operation, officers searched two houses in the Galolhu district. The suspected drugs were recovered from one of the properties during the search.

The individual taken into custody has been identified as Muawiyath Ahmed, aged 30. He has been remanded in police custody for a period of 15 days.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the case remain ongoing.
