Island Aviation has announced that passengers will no longer be required to submit copies of their ID cards or passports when booking tickets for the national airline, Maldivian.
Effective from August, the new policy allows customers to book tickets by providing personal details exactly as they appear on an official identification document, without needing to submit a physical copy. The change is aimed at improving customer privacy and simplifying the booking process.
However, passengers will still be required to carry a valid or expired ID card, driving licence, or passport when travelling.
Island Aviation noted that if any discrepancies arise in the information provided, they can be resolved by contacting Maldivian via email or through the airline’s call centre.
Maldivian currently operates flights to 18 destinations across the Maldives and seven international destinations. The updated procedure is expected to enhance convenience for both domestic and international travellers.
