President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Disanayaka, has expressed his commitment to engaging in meaningful dialogue with Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during his state visit from 28 to 30 July.

The visit, undertaken at the official invitation of President Dr Muizzu, is President Disanayaka's first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office in 2024.

In a statement shared on X, President Disanayaka highlighted the aim of strengthening collaboration through high-level dialogue with President Muizzu and other senior Maldivian leaders. He also confirmed that the two countries will be signing several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation across key sectors.

The visit comes at a time of growing momentum in Maldives–Sri Lanka bilateral relations, with both countries maintaining strong ties in areas such as trade, education, tourism, defence cooperation, and regional maritime security. Sri Lanka is a key regional partner for the Maldives, and the two nations regularly engage through regional groupings such as SAARC and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

President Disanayaka's visit is expected to further solidify this longstanding partnership and support continued collaboration in regional development, economic growth, and people-to-people exchanges.
