A man has been taken into custody for allegedly setting fire to a room in his residence on Alifu Dhaalu Omadhoo.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident took place on Sunday night. The suspect, believed to have been intoxicated at the time, is reported to have engaged in a heated argument, caused damage to several items in the house, and subsequently set fire to one of the rooms.

While no injuries were reported, authorities confirmed that most of the contents in the affected room were destroyed and rendered unusable.

The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Ahmed Nafiu of Omadhoo. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
