Police have recovered a knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing of a 29-year-old man in Laamu Maavah, as the investigation into the deadly altercation continues.

The victim, identified as Moosa Ibrahim of Maavah, sustained fatal injuries during a reported confrontation on 28 July. Maldives Police Service confirmed that the incident was reported at 10:12 a.m. and the victim was declared dead on arrival at the Maavah Health Centre.

The suspected assailant, 29-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. Police have since confirmed that he has a known record related to drug offences.

As part of the investigation, a police team recovered a knife from the sea near the crime scene, believed to be the weapon used in the attack. While the motive behind the altercation remains unconfirmed, authorities have described it as a violent clash between the two individuals.

The Maldives Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and has urged the public to provide any information relevant to the case.
