Off-season tourist arrivals to Maldives rise by 13.1 per cent

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives during the off-season months have increased by 13.1 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Tourism.
The off-season, which spans from May to November, typically sees a decline in tourist arrivals and revenue. However, this year’s data points to a continued recovery and growth in arrivals.
In May, the first month of the off-season, 135,614 tourists visited the Maldives. This represents a 13 per cent increase over the 119,875 arrivals recorded in May 2024.
June saw a similar trend, with 141,772 tourists arriving, a 15 per cent increase from 123,284 in the same month last year.
As of 28 July, 168,112 tourists had arrived in the Maldives, up 11.7 per cent compared to the 150,405 arrivals recorded during the same period in July 2024.
In total, between 1 May and 28 July this year, 445,498 tourists visited the Maldives, up from 393,565 during the same period last year.
The daily average number of arrivals also increased, from 4,726 in June to 6,004 in July.
For the year so far, 1,276,242 tourists have visited the Maldives, marking a 9.5 per cent increase from the 1,165,934 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
Resorts continued to be the preferred choice for most tourists, with 73.1 per cent, or 932,504 visitors, staying at resort properties. Guesthouses accounted for 22.1 per cent of visitors (281,669), while 34,306 stayed in hotels and 26,869 on safari vessels.
China remained the leading source market for the Maldives, contributing 184,661 visitors. Russia followed with 150,607 tourists, while the United Kingdom ranked third with 119,958 arrivals.
