The development of a major park in Farukolhufushi, located in Hulhumalé Phase 2, is set to begin as part of the newly launched Hulhumalé Master Plan.
The project is one of the key components of the plan, aimed at enhancing liveability through increased green and recreational spaces.
Although the second phase of Hulhumalé has been inhabited for over five years, no dedicated park or large green area has yet been established. The beach area currently serves as the main venue for public gatherings and community events.
The new park will feature a range of recreational facilities, including an outdoor gym, a football pitch, and other sports areas. Plans also include barbecue spaces, food vendor zones, and areas designed for families to gather and relax. According to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the park is being developed as a community hub.
With the recent completion of the FDC 4,000 housing units, population density in Phase 2 is expected to rise further. The park is intended to support the growing community by offering accessible recreational services and improving the overall urban environment.
In addition to the Farukolhufushi development, the Hulhumalé Master Plan also includes the creation of green spaces in other parts of Phase 2, highlighting efforts to promote sustainable and community-focused urban planning.
