Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has entered into a one-year partnership with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT) to deliver a range of community-focused programmes aimed at empowering youth, women, and people with special needs.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 13 August, 2025 at a ceremony held at HDC headquarters. Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Mohamed signed on behalf of HDC, while MIT’s Director of Programmes, Adam Haleem, signed for the institute.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will collaborate on initiatives such as career guidance programmes to improve employability among school graduates, as well as vocational training including domestic appliance safety, motorcycle repair and maintenance, and wheelchair repair for individuals with disabilities.
The corporation has previously implemented similar initiatives and aims to expand its outreach in the future. HDC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive growth and empowering underrepresented groups through impactful community development programmes.
