The Maldives Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with a drug case in Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo.

Police identified those arrested as Mohamed Ashraf, 30, and Aminath Shaya Shujau, 18.

According to police, the two were taken into custody on 23 April on charges related to drug possession.

They were stopped and searched near Vaadhoo Harbour, where officers confiscated suspected drugs with a provisional weight of 3.28 grams.

In connection with the case, Mohamed Ashraf has been remanded in custody for 30 days, while Aminath Shaya Shujau has been remanded for 60 days as investigations continue.
