President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to India on the occasion of its Independence Day.

In a message posted on X, the President conveyed his best wishes to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government, and the people of India.

He expressed hope that the day’s celebrations would reflect the spirit and achievements of the Indian people, and described India as a trusted development partner of the Maldives.

Dr Muizzu also highlighted the recent growth in high-level exchanges and people-to-people contact between the two nations, saying it underscored the strong cooperation they have built over the years.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two neighbours.
