The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that more than 1,200 people have now signed agreements for flats allotted under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme.

The corporation confirmed that 1,202 agreements had been completed as of yesterday and added that arrangements had already been scheduled with a total of 1,530 people.

FDC described this as a major achievement, noting that the process is progressing steadily. Earlier, the corporation stated that the Ministry of Housing had forwarded 2,665 names for flat allocation, and agreements are being finalised with the remaining beneficiaries.

The large-scale housing project consists of 32 towers, with 16 constructed by NBCC and the other 16 by JMC. Each company is responsible for 2,000 flats. The development includes 2,800 three-bedroom apartments and 1,200 two-bedroom apartments.

According to FDC, the two-bedroom units are 650 square feet, while the three-bedroom units measure 900 square feet. The Government has announced its plan to hand over the completed flats to all beneficiaries of the scheme by the end of September.

Ahead of the handover, beneficiaries are required to upload the necessary documents to FDC’s online platform, the Fahi Portal, before attending to sign their flat agreements. Once documents are uploaded, the corporation will notify applicants of their signing dates.

The signing process is currently taking place at the Hulhumalé synthetic track.
