Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee is set to review President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s nominations for three seats on the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
The terms of CSC President Mohamed Nasih and members Mohamed Farshath and Fathimath Shareef will expire on 3 September. Under the Constitution, when the term of an independent institution member ends, the President must submit candidates to Parliament, which then reviews and votes on the appointments.
President Dr Muizzu has submitted the names of six individuals for the three upcoming vacancies, listed in order of priority: Mohamed Nasih, Dr Hussain Faiz, Dr Dheeba Moosa, Uza Badhuriyya Moosa, Dr Fathimath Muna, and Aminath Ummu Kulsoom. The nominations have been referred to the Independent Institutions Committee for evaluation.
The CSC is composed of five members, each serving a five-year term. Its current members are President Mohamed Nasih, Vice-President Uz Mohamed Mujuthaz, and members Mohamed Farshath, Fathimath Shareef, and Fathimath Habeeba.
The nominees will be appointed by the President once the committee review is completed and endorsed by a parliamentary vote.
