The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) to strengthen cooperation in disaster management.

The agreement, signed on Sunday, focuses on improving national preparedness and response systems and enhancing coordination in relief and recovery efforts. It also calls for joint training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to help build more resilient communities and expand institutional capacity.

According to NDMA, the MoU underscores its commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening resilience against future challenges.

The MRC echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership reaffirms a shared commitment to improving emergency response, disaster management, and disaster risk reduction across the country.

The NDMA and MRC are among the leading agencies in the Maldives working to enhance disaster preparedness and strengthen community resilience.
